OURANOS was the Primeval God of the solid dome of the sky. He was the first ruler of the universe. Ouranos was imagined as the dome of the sky itself. In Roman times however, Ouranos was often depiced as Aion, the god of eternal time, in the form of a man turning the zodiac wheel. Sometimes he was placed beside the reclining form of Gaia (Mother Earth), and the gods of the fruits of the seasons.
